Service prices are heating up, faster here
Service businesses say the prices they pay are rising at the fastest pace since July 2022, according to the Institute for Supply Management's September survey. Government data tell the same story closer to home: consumer prices for services in the San Francisco, Oakland and Hayward area, which takes in Newark and the rest of Alameda County, rose 3.8% over the year to August, against 3.1% nationally.
A small gain for the list
Two homes joined Newark's buyable list of houses and townhomes from Monday to Tuesday, one as coming soon and one as active, and one active listing came off the market. One coming soon home went live, and one home that had recently changed its price returned to the active list, so the list rose to 64. One home left the under contract count, which usually means a sale closed, leaving 25. No seller changed an asking price.
What it costs at 7.61%
On Newark's median asking price of $1,298,000 with 20% down, the loan is $1,038,400, inside the $1,249,125 high balance conforming limit for Alameda County, and principal and interest comes to $7,339 a month at 7.61%.
